Calling the HUPD

The HUPD has two main numbers:

(49) 5 - 1212 for urgent business
(49) 5 - 1215 for other business

Persons should call (49) 5 – 1212 when they need to request an immediate police response. Reasons for an immediate response include:

  • To report any crime in progress
  • For a fire alarm sounding
  • To request an ambulance
  • To report a strange odor in a building
  • To report suspicious activity

Persons should call (49) 5 – 1215 when they need information or to request a non-urgent police response. Reasons include:

  • To report a crime that has already occurred, for which you would like to file a report
  • If you are locked out of a room
  • To leave a message for an officer
  • To get information on bicycle and laptop registrations

Community members are strongly encouraged to enter the HUPD’s urgent line (617-495-1212) phone number into their cell phone speed dial list.
